Ornaments!

So it is the christmas season and i am taking on the task at making ornaments to keep things a little fresh and help make all my ends meet. If you have an idea for an ornament on your tree that you'd like to commission me to do or like some of the ones avaliable in my shop, please feel free to throw me a line or buy something special. If not for yourself, than someone else. :)

Joey, The Golden-Doodle

Having been asked 2 years ago to doodle up my cousin's golden-doodle, joey, i found myself inspired to actually complete it. With the inspiration from looking at countless images and decor that my recently deceased aunt had created, I found it only right to give her son something that reflected her own taste with a little bit of my own flair, which he also enjoyed. So here I present Joey, a rambunctious, cuddle monster whom i swear is merely wrapped in a super fuzzy blanket.

Happy Birthday w/ Cardinals

Today was my Aunts birthday. Being i do not see her often and she has been having such a rough time, i decided to create a birthday image for her with her favorite species of bird. The Cardinal. I've heard her tell a few memorable stories and they always have stuck in my memory. So in respects of the occasion i felt this would be the best that not only was her favorite bird but also in a style she'd like as well.
To one of my favorite aunts... I love you and Happy Birthday :)

Where It All Started

Coming home from July 4th weekend, my mother had me take back a tote that she had found during her move and said it had some art stuff of mine in it. Thinking I had long lost these first images I returned home to find them at the bottom of this small tote. I was so excited that I had to take a picture! These are all a part of Fazzle's first litter on Wolf Mountain [except for the black and white head shot] and the beginnings of my art career.

Happy 1 Year Anniversary to Jackie and Steve!

So it has been a year now since one of my good friends has been dating her boyfriend Steve. I had meant to meet him months before but never had a chance due to the move I had made from pennsylvania to maryland. So instead they decided to visit the area and stay for a weekend to visit. I was more than thrilled.
Steve had got in contact with me soon after they had made the plans and brought up this fabulous idea about the gift he was putting together for her. He was making word art for their one year that spelt out her name and I thought it was the best idea ever [being a fan myself]! He convinced me to do the border in an ivy pattern but not just any ivy. He was going stylistically for it and gave me several ideas to work with. Spending two nights planning and putting it together [while they were here]. I ended up getting it back to him just in time for him to present it to her and I couldn't be more happy with the results!

Page 1 Comic

Page one of a comic i am currently help illustrating of a young adult Sally.... This is just a rough start and some refinement will be added eventually.... Just thought id keep it up to date :)

Up One Night

After the rain had fallen one night a week or so ago, it seemed the perfect temperature to take one of those late night drives through the area with my sasquatchian other! We stopped by a lake we frequented and chilled out on the bench just in time for a show of fireflies to arrive. This is my quick interpretation of that night... A bit of a work in process yet since i forgot some things but i am in desperate need of some sleep and am on my way to bed! Good night! <3

Mother's Day Cards

The days prior to Mother's Day were pretty hectic near my new home compared to the ruralscapes of pennsylvania. I had no idea how difficult it would be to find a card, let alone how difficult it would be to get around everyone else looking for one. It was pretty easy for me to look over at the large crowd surfing over the best cards to find their mothers and decide that this year, it was going to be best to just make my own.
Though this is not my own mother's card that i had made her [and i feel pretty bad that i believe this one might of topped that]. This one was for my boyfriends mother who had so diligently made a pot roast and weeded out the garden on mothers day when no one else raised their hand to make dinner that day. I felt the title of Wonder Mom (WM) would delight her senses and even had him take credit for 'making' the card in reference to an old movie we had watched the night before.
So this goes out to all the wonder multi-tasking mothers who did or did not catch a break on Mother's Day and hope that it was still enjoyable. :)

Complimentary Colors Yellow / Purples

I was reading a tutorial on colors and how to best harmonize them in an image and thought i would practice a bit on a sketch i had quickly doodled one day. I'll show the steps i took starting from the beginning image.

Step 4
I tried harmonizing the yellow tones of her body with a deep purple background and a yellow hatch texture in the background. Its a bit rough but it all seems to come together. Comments?

Step 3
adding darker values of a warm color instead of black to create more of a feeling in the image.

Step 2
 adding basic colors.

"Operation Geekling Dinosaur Project"

My sister sent me this link www.thekarpiuks.com about a couple who are collecting dinosaur images for their new son's baby room around the first of the month [may]. I thought about it and decided to give it a go. I started googling some images of my old favorite types of dinosaurs. What i found... they were surprisingly scarier than i remember. So I continued to search and remembered that i didnt have to draw them looking so nasty... I put a scarf on my first doodle below. I had continued and thought i had a good one of a dino drinking some tea but then i started over and got this image of a sky diving dino. I figured for a little boy it should be adventurous!

Work In Process with Color
I got as far as this before i had to let it dry. I just have to add my clouds and rescan it back in and submit it. Tried to stay away from going too much into the black colors and added as much color as i could. I hope you all enjoy! Suppose that will be all for now on this... keep checking for posts on the final image!

Character designs / Names / Concepts / Etc are all original and i would greatly prefer it if they were not copied in anyway. If you have the greatest need to borrow any of my images please email me first, you'll be surprised to find I do check my email frequently enough so that you would not have to wait long.
